Nestle Recall

GLENDALE, Calif. - Nestle USA has voluntarily recalled limited quantities of Nestlé Nesquik chocolate powder due to a possible presence of Salmonella. Nestlé is removing the canisters from distribution when Omya Inc., an ingredient supplier, issued a voluntary recall last week of certain lots of its calcium carbonate ingredient.

Omya said in a separate release that the recall involves a calcium carbonate product manufactured at its Arizona plant.

Nestle said there have been no reports of any illnesses or adverse health effects associated with the product.

The voluntary recall is limited to Nesquik chocolate powder in 10.9, 21.8 and 40.7 ounce cans.

The company said no other varieties of Nesquik powder or any sizes or flavors of Nesquik ready-to-drink are affected by the recall.

The affected product was produced in early Oct. 2012.

Consumers who may have purchased the recalled NESQUIK chocolate powder should return it to the store of purchase for a full refund or contact Nestlé Consumer Services at (800) 628-7679.
