GEP holds public meeting in Glenville tonight

September 12, 7 pm, at the Town of Glenville Senior Center at 32 Worden Road.

Vermont's Committee to Ensure Clean Air

Vermont's Committee to Ensure Clean Air met for the first time on Sept. 6 and will meet every other week, schedules permitting, until the end of the year. At the first meeting, the committee's 17 members representing state government, environmental groups, and industry discussed ideas for the agenda of the committee. Topics include reductions in mobile and stationary sources, and how to encourage renewable energy in Vermont. ANR Secretary Scott Johnstone offered to drop the 4 year-old NOx waiver application, which was the impetus for the formation of the committee. The committee will also look at ways to offset large new stationary sources of NOx such as natural gas power plants.

FERC -- Wants to Include Public in Discussion -- Please Attend

The Office of Energy Projects is initiating a series of public meetings around the country for the purposes of exploring and enhancing strategies for constructive public participation in the earliest stages of natural gas facility planning. The first meeting will be held in Albany, New York on Tue., Sept. 26, 2000. We are inviting interstate natural gas companies; Federal, state and local agencies; landowners and other non-governmental organizations with an interest in developing a new way of doing business to join us in this effort. We will discuss the facility planning process, not the merits of any pending or planned pipeline projects.
